You have the power to change immediately - How to get out of a rut

The key to getting out of a rut is realizing that you don’t need more willpower, you need more clarity.

Imagine someone who seems productive and on top of everything. It’s not that they’re pushing themselves harder than everyone else—they just know what really matters to them, and they stick to it.

They’ve learned to ignore the distractions. You can do the same. Once you know what will make you feel truly happy and fulfilled, you don’t have to fight yourself so much. You’ll naturally start doing what makes you feel good because you’ll want to.

It’s easy to think that things like being productive, eating well, or exercising are painful or boring. Maybe you’ve told yourself, “I should be doing these things,” and it makes them feel like a burden.

When we focus on what we should do, we end up avoiding those tasks. It’s like a rebellious part of us kicks in and says, “No, I don’t want to!”

This happens to a lot of ambitious people, the ones who have big dreams. They resist anything that feels like a command, even if it’s a command they give themselves!

So, instead of thinking “I should do this,” try saying, “I want to do this because it will make me feel good.” Suddenly, a different reaction occurs in your subconscious mind, making you want to do the work instead of putting it off.

How to Get Out of a Rut

Start by asking yourself: what makes me feel truly satisfied, like I’m growing or becoming better? It might not always be the easiest thing to do in the moment, but it’s worth it.

Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that all the fun things are the things you shouldn’t be doing. The best things in life are the ones that challenge you a little, make you think, and leave you feeling proud of yourself afterward.

I want to leave you with this beautiful quote I found while doom scrolling:

“The idea is to waste time doing things you love so you don't realize you're wasting time.”
